PHOENIX, AZ., August 12, 2103 – Phoenix singer/songwriter, Jeremiah Craig has an ambitious new EP out called The Commandeer which is the first project he has had pressed to vinyl. To celebrate this first for Jeremiah, he will be hosting a vinyl release party for The Commandeer at the North Mountain Brewing Company on Friday, August 23rd at 8pm.
A year and a half ago, Jeremiah moved to Phoenix from the east coast with his girlfriend. With little money, no local contacts and having no where to live they both found success quickly. This trip was the inspiration behind writing The Commandeer for Jeremiah. The five song collection begins with the songs “Benjamin Gunn” and “Commandeer” which chronicles the first meeting of the couple. The songs that follow, “Interlude” and “Sight on the Northern Star”, are about the travel portion and the triumphant finale of the EP is “Reverie Pilgrims” which celebrates the success of the move. Without giving to much away, the listener will find many references, metaphors and allusions to pirate and seafaring life from the dialects used in lyrics to the way certain instruments are played.
After writing the five song suite, Jeremiah got together with local musicians to record with at local recording studio, Audioconfusion in Mesa. The studio offered the perfect atmosphere for these songs and throughout the entire recording process, the vinyl production was on top of mind. Audioconfusion has room with cinder block walls and a wooden floor which was perfect for picking up the natural reverb of room sound. Jeremiah had this kind of room in mind when searching for a studio and the end result was a very honest and natural sounding EP with no digital effects added. The honesty and naturalness of The Commandeer becomes truly apparent when played on vinyl.
The celebration for the vinyl release will be held at North Mountain Brewing Company on Friday, August 23rd at 8pm. Admission to the show is free and The Commandeer vinyl will be for sale for only $10. The vinyl also comes with an mp3 download code.
