Come Early, Stay Late: Max Moses & Jeremiah Craig at K-HOUSE | Nov 20

Come Early, Stay Late: Max Moses & Jeremiah Craig at K-HOUSE | Nov 20

Sometimes one show is a good excuse to make an entire night out of live music. Especially when there’s more music happening right next door.

On Friday, November 20th, Max Moses of the Cast Iron Cowboys and I will be performing solo sets at Room K at K-HOUSE Karaoke & Arts Hub before and after The Wailin’ Jennys perform at the State Theatre of Ithaca. We’ll be playing from 6–8pm and again from 10pm–midnight, with a $5 suggested donation.

Come early for cocktails and songs. Stay late for a nightcap and a few more. Or do both. It’s Friday!

A Whole Evening of Folk and Roots Music

The Wailin’ Jennys are coming to the State Theatre on November 20th for an 8pm show, and if you enjoy folk music, there’s plenty to be excited about. Nicky Mehta, Ruth Moody and Heather Masse bring three distinct voices together in the harmonies that have become such a recognizable part of their sound.

Their music moves through folk and roots traditions with the kind of attention to voices and songs that makes you want to stop what you’re doing and listen.

Max and I want to give folks another reason to arrive a little earlier or stick around afterward. K-HOUSE is next door to the theatre at 121 W Martin Luther King Jr. St., so you can enjoy some local music without turning your evening into a complicated operation.

No driving across town between sets. Just a short walk and more songs.

Two Musicians, Four Solo Sets

Max and I will each play an hour during the 6–8pm window and another hour during the 10pm–midnight window. We’ll be splitting both sessions into individual solo performances, giving you a chance to hear each of us in our own style.

You may know Max as the singer, guitarist and a co-founder of the Cast Iron Cowboys. The band brings together country western, blues, folk and Appalachian influences with original songs and covers that get people moving.

There’s a lot happening when the full band takes the stage. Harmonies, different instruments, dance tunes and the sort of energy that makes standing still a little difficult.

This evening will be a chance to catch Max in a different setting. A solo performance gives you room to hear the voice, guitar and songs up close. If you’ve enjoyed the Cowboys around town, come spend some time with one of the musicians behind that sound.

The Stories Behind My Songs

For my sets, I’ll be bringing my own blend of original folk music, storytelling and a few covers.

Appalachian folk music was my first love, and I’ve always connected with the way a song can carry a story from one person to another. Sometimes that story comes from traveling. Sometimes it comes from somebody you meet. Sometimes it’s something ordinary that sticks with you long enough to become a song.

I’ve released six albums available on Spotify and other streaming platforms, and playing those songs live gives them another life. There’s something special about singing a story in a room where you can actually see people responding to it.

I enjoy that connection whether I’m playing at a winery, a brewery or a room downtown. Every audience brings something different, and that’s part of the fun.

Pre-Game or Nightcap?

If you’re heading to The Wailin’ Jennys, stop into Room K during our early session. Grab a cocktail, settle into your Friday evening and hear some music before heading next door for the 8pm concert.

Then, if you come out of the theatre wanting the night to keep going, we’ll be back at 10pm.

I know that feeling when a show ends and you’re still thinking about the songs. You want to talk about your favorites, have another drink and enjoy being out for a little longer so we’ll have more music waiting.

There’s plenty of room for another good song.

You’re also welcome to join us if the State Theatre concert isn’t part of your plans. Come for the early sets, the late sets or both.

Friday, November 20th. Room K at K-HOUSE. Music from 6–8pm and 10pm–midnight. A $5 suggested donation supports the music.

Come hang out with Max and me and make a night of it!
