"Gardener Hands" Anniversary

At this moment last year, I had finished spamming friends, acquaintances and complete strangers that I was having an album release party and I was about to actually celebrate the album with these people who I had annoyed for a month.  Truth is, they were as excited as I was about this album that was named “Gardener Hands” and hopefully enjoyed being spammed by me.

The party was at Lovin’ Cup in Rochester, NY.  It was an early show.  They called it the “happy hour acoustic set.”  Now when I think of “happy hour” music, I think of background music to chill out to before a night out at the clubs.  This was anything but a chill atmosphere.  The place was packed and people were celebrating right along with me and some even more than me.

My buddy Ingamar started off the night performing some poems that he had written and every line he spoke was well received by the audience.  Everyone loved him and it was a great way to start the show.

Then I took stage with only my guitar and harmonica and played the songs I had recorded over the span of a few days at a church that was converted into a recording studio and was only five minutes from the house where I grew up.  I was pleased that I had made everyone so happy with my music.

While I was playing, my brother Levi and Steve were working the tables and making sure everyone who was there bought an album.  Now Steve is 275 pounds of muscle and has a wit about as sharp as a fillet knife and when teamed with Levi, they are an unstoppable sales team.  Needless to say, I still owe both of them a lot in commissions from that night.

Even when I was done with my show people were still celebrating and I loved it because now that I was off the stage, I could join them.  I remember my father and mother having to drive some people home that night because everybody was having such a good time.

Today I’m celebrating again because “Gardener Hands” was the boost that propelled my music last year.  I released another collection of songs about seven months after “Gardener Hands” called “The Home Tapes Vol. 1” and this year I’ve released the “Busy My Spade” single and have many more plans.

I’d like everyone to join the celebration with me again this year so if you don’t have the “Gardener Hands” album yet or want it again you can download it for free at my Bandcamp Page.

Thanks to everyone who supported me last year and thanks in advance for those who will help me this year.
