Feel Good Eats: A Review of Even Stevens Sandwiches

I met so many great people while on my fall tour last year and I just so happened to meet Trevor Down who is the co-founder and Director of Promotions of Even Stevens at my show in St. George. We got to talking about his business and what Even Stevens is all about and I’m telling you right now that if you have not visited an Even Stevens near you, you need to do so for a couple of important reasons.

Trevor told me about how he was in St. George, Utah to help set up the new Even Stevens location that had just started earlier that week. The company started in Salt Lake City and began expanding so this was a big moment for them to be in the southern most part of the state.

What makes Even Stevens so unique is that every time someone purchases a meal, they donate the same amount of value in food to a charity’s food account. Those charities can then use that money to purchase food of their own to feed the homeless and other people in need. So it makes you feel good about eating there.

But don’t think that just because they donate a sandwich for every sandwich purchased is the only reason why people go to Even Stevens. They go there because the sandwiches are incredible. They taste SO good. I’m not kidding… and that’s the goal from what Trevor explained to me too.

After our conversation he gave me a little coupon for a free sandwich at the new St. George location so the next morning I stopped by for a breakfast burrito before heading down to Phoenix for my next show. Here was my reaction as recorded in episode 12 of my Expressway Balladeer series…

Needless to say I was very surprised. Not because I was expecting it to be bad but because I wasn’t expecting it to be THAT GOOD! Seriously. The breakfast burrito was full of real fried eggs, potatoes, spinach, peppers and a chipotle-type sauce that keeps you from putting it down, even for a quick drink. When you live in Phoenix for three years, you get your fair share of breakfast burritos but none of them came anywhere close to as good as the one I had from Even Stevens.

Try it for yourself. You’ll see what I’m talking about. Go to Even Stevens for the food and feel good about knowing that your purchase is helping out local charities… but you’ll also feel good about how amazing your meal is.
