Live Music at Scout Vineyards: Folk Tunes, Finger Lakes Wine & Gourmet Burgers

Live Music at Scout Vineyards: Folk Tunes, Finger Lakes Wine & Gourmet Burgers

I’ve got something really special lined up this summer, and I’d love for you to join me. On Friday, August 15th from 4–7 PM, I’ll be performing a free show at one of the most exciting spots on the western shore of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes: Scout Vineyards. And to make the evening even tastier, Yummy Burger will be parked onsite serving up their legendary burgers.

This is shaping up to be the kind of summer Friday you dream about all year long. Live music, incredible wine, a killer view, and a burger in hand. Let me tell you why I’m so pumped about it and why you should make your way to Scout that evening.

The Magic of Scout Vineyards

If you haven’t visited Scout Vineyards yet, you’re in for a treat. This place is something special. It’s a family-run, organic farm and winery founded by folks who truly care about the land, the wine, and the community around them. The vineyard sits right along Seneca Lake, which means you get those perfect Finger Lakes breezes, rolling hills, and sunsets that’ll have you pulling out your camera every five minutes.

Scout focuses heavily on Chardonnay, and if you think you know Chardonnay, wait until you taste theirs. It’s crisp, balanced, and truly a reflection of the Finger Lakes terroir. Every sip feels like it’s been crafted with intention, and that’s because it has. The winemaking philosophy here is all about letting the land speak for itself.

One of the things I really respect about Scout Vineyards is their commitment to sustainability. They’re working an organic farm and preparing their own vineyard for future harvests. There’s a genuine spirit of exploration and craftsmanship in everything they do which makes it a perfect match for a night of music that celebrates storytelling and connection. Scout is their name and they live up to it in every way.

Why This Show Will Be Different

Sure, I’ve played in wineries before but Scout offers something that feels both grounded and adventurous at the same time. There’s something about playing with a view of Seneca Lake, the air scented with vines and fresh-cut grass, people gathered with a glass in hand, ready to relax and enjoy the evening.

I’ll be performing a mix of my own folk and Americana songs, the kind that work best when they’ve got room to breathe in the open air. You can expect stories behind the songs, maybe a cowboy boot tale or two, and of course some toe-tapping tunes to pair perfectly with a crisp glass of wine.

One of the things I love most about these smaller, intimate shows is how the audience and I get to actually connect. I’m not just up there playing, I’m talking with folks between songs, hearing your stories, and sharing mine. It makes the music feel alive in a way that’s hard to get in a big, loud venue.

The Burger Factor

Now, I can’t gloss over this... Yummy Burger will be there too. If you know, you know. These folks sling some of the juiciest, most flavor-packed burgers around. They’re the kind of burgers where you take that first bite and immediately stop mid-sentence because your brain is too busy processing all the goodness.

Pair that with a Scout wine, and you’ve got yourself a gourmet summer evening without any fuss. The best part? You don’t need a reservation, you don’t need to dress fancy, just bring your appetite, your love of music, and maybe a picnic blanket or a camp chair to claim your spot.

A Perfect Friday Plan

Here’s what I’m envisioning for you:

  • Arrive at Scout Vineyards around 3 PM. Grab yourself a glass or a tasting flight. Don't worry if you don't know what to pick, the folks at Scout will guide you to something you’ll love.
  • Grab dinner from Yummy Burger. You’re going to want to eat before the second set so you can just relax and enjoy the tunes.
  • Find your spot. Set up where you can see the stage and still take in that lake view.
  • Settle in for live folk music. I’ll take you through stories, songs, and maybe a few surprises before the sun starts to set over Seneca Lake.
  • Stick around. Once the music wraps up around 7 PM, you can hang out, grab one last drink, and soak up that golden hour glow.

It’s the kind of evening that feels like summer distilled into a few perfect hours.

Why You Shouldn’t Miss It

There are plenty of summer events in the Finger Lakes, but this one’s got a mix that’s hard to beat:

  • Free live music (which means you can spend your money on wine and food instead)
  • Local wine made with care and vision
  • A food truck that’s a destination in itself
  • Scenery that’s worth the drive alone
  • Community vibes: you’ll meet locals, travelers, wine lovers, and music fans all mingling together

And honestly? These are the moments that make summer feel endless. When you’re sitting with good people, eating great food, sipping wine, and listening to live music as the sun dips low.
