Hey folks! I’ve got a special show coming up that I’m real excited about, and I hope you’ll mark your calendars. On Friday, August 8 at 9pm, I’ll be playing a full set at Tres Leches, the speakeasy lounge tucked beneath Dos Amigos in Collegetown, Ithaca.
Now, I know what some of you might be thinking, “Collegetown? That’s for students.” But hear me out. Whether you’re a lifelong Ithacan, a recent transplant, or someone who usually sticks closer to the Commons, this is one of those nights that’s worth making the short journey up the hill. Let me tell you why.
A Little About Me
If we haven’t met yet, I’m Jeremiah Craig. I’m a folk singer/songwriter originally from Western New York and now based right here in Ithaca. My music blends storytelling with acoustic energy, drawing on traditions of American folk, country, and roots. Whether I’m spinning tales about bootleggers, wanderers, or everyday working folks, I like to bring a good story and a rhythm you can tap your foot to.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of performing all around town, from breweries and wineries to festivals and cozy bars. Ithaca’s been incredibly welcoming, and I’ve loved getting to know the music lovers, the dreamers, and the boot-wearin’ dancers in this town. This August show at Tres Leches is one I’ve been looking forward to because it’s something a little different, an intimate, atmospheric spot with cocktails, low light, and the kind of vibe where folk songs come to life.
What’s Tres Leches?
If you haven’t been to Tres Leches yet, it’s time to discover this gem. It’s a moody, underground speakeasy lounge located beneath Dos Amigos in Collegetown. Picture velvet couches, candlelit tables, craft cocktails, and a cozy stage that makes you feel like you’re part of something secret and special. It’s got the ambiance of an old-world parlor mixed with the energy of a modern listening room, perfect for acoustic sets or deep conversations over an old fashioned.
Why Collegetown?
Let’s talk about Collegetown. For many locals, it’s a part of Ithaca that we tend to associate with student life, high energy, late nights, and, let’s be honest, a little chaotic during the school year. But in the summer? It’s a whole different story.
Collegetown in August is quieter and downright charming. The crowds thin out, the sidewalks are easier to stroll, and the businesses, from boba shops to hidden bars, are easier to enjoy without a long wait. It’s the perfect time to rediscover this neighborhood.
And here’s the thing: Collegetown is changing. It’s no longer just a place for undergrads. With venues like Tres Leches popping up, the area is becoming a great spot for locals who love good food, drinks, and live music. It’s a short ride or walk from downtown — just hop on a Lime bike or take a scenic stroll up Buffalo Street and you’ll be there in no time. Parking’s even easier in the evenings during summer.
Where to Park
Parking in Collegetown can be a little difficult, even in the summer. I recommend using the parking garage at 118 Dryden Road. It makes parking easy and it's just a two minute walk to Tres Leches.
Come on Up the Hill!
So here’s my pitch: if you’re someone who usually stays downtown or on the West End, give Collegetown a shot, at least for one night. Let’s turn August 8th into a mini local adventure. Start with dinner at Dos Amigos upstairs, then come down the steps into the glow of Tres Leches, where I’ll be playing tunes starting at 9pm.
I’ll be bringing original songs, some traditional folk material I’ve been working on, a few stories, and of course, the boots. If you’ve seen me play before, you know it’s more than just music, it’s about creating a shared moment, something that brings people together.
If you’ve never seen me live, this is the perfect show to start with. The room is intimate, the drinks are great, and the vibe is welcoming.
Let’s Make It a Night
Whether you’re a folk music fan, someone who loves discovering new venues, or just looking for a fun Friday night with some heart, come join me at Tres Leches on August 8.
Tell a friend, make a plan, and come see what Collegetown has to offer after dark. I’ll be waiting downstairs with stories and songs, and I’d love to share the night with you.
