I get to speak with a bunch of different people for my Break Room Balladeer series. In each episode I interview small business owners and professionals and perform a song I was inspired to write about their industry.
Speaking with Jillian Jones of Supportive Divorce Solutions taught me a lot about divorce and the finances surrounding a marital split. I've never experienced anything like divorce and I'm certainly not planning to in my life. However it opened my eyes to situations of people who are in abusive relationships or those who feel trapped and the options they have to get their finances together correctly so they can better their lives.
The Cost of Divorce and What's After
In this Break Room Balladeer episode, Jillian talks about the cost of divorce and how to prepare for the next step in your life. I also perform my song "What's After?" which I wrote based on her industry of divorce finances.

"What's After?" lyrics
The door opens heavy and the pen drags dry
And deep breaths have only helped the bubble grow to this size
Is it better to burst or continue the hurt from inside?
Cuz there’s no telling what’s next and no way to check over the rise
The past starts to fade
As I close out the chapter
The present’s a haze
And I don’t know what’s after
I step out in the sun skeptical of the shine
I know I’m never alone but still I want this path to be mine
But I don’t know which way and already feel behind
What can I do in the light while I still have the time?
The past starts to fade
As I close out the chapter
The present’s a haze
And I don’t know what’s after
It’s the same what after as it was before
And we did ok back then
The worst voices say “you think you got struggles now
Just wait til you see what's round the bend”
I smile and say “let me tell you what’s after”
I can take this chance and make my loved ones proud
Show every possibility
And there’s no failure fear that can hold me down
Since I've already shaken free
So watch and let me show you what’s after
I step out in the sun, excited by the shine
I know I’m never alone and that this path is mine
