Oregon’s Craigslist has been kind to me recently. The first weekend of March, I picked up a show through a Craigslist ad in Madras with at the first Friday event hosted by Organic Earthly Delights and this past weekend I picked up a show in Hillsboro at Primrose & Tumbleweeds. The Madras show was a little dark and I couldn’t get good footage but I had a fair amount of light for an episode of Expressway Balladeer so after a week without an episode, I’m back at it.
Before I headed down to Hillsboro, I needed to put my car back together. The gauges were completely screwed. My fuel gauge was pointing straight down, temperature gauge was past the point of no return as far as heat is concerned, and my speedometer was always wrong. So I had to send it off to get repaired but it came back in perfect working order (thankfully) so I was able to make a kick ass trip down to Hillsboro.
I wish I was able to get the end of my set at Primrose & Tumbleweeds because there were a few folks I played for in front of the fireplace there. It was a real nice living room feel but my camera ran out of juice. Still I was able to capture a version of the traditional song, “Darlin’ Cory” which is one of the first songs I ever learned.
If you’re ever around Hillsboro, I highly recommend heading over to Primrose & Tumbleweeds. There’s a wine store and restaurant in the front and a little saloon in the back. No matter what you’re into, you’ll probably feel comfortable there. Especially with such great owners who care so much about their place and their community.
See ya next episode!
